I want to feel pretty, oh so pretty...

One of the things I find lately is that I'm really missing makeup, nice clothing, and doing my hair. I want to feel pretty, even if it's only from the chest up (still got a swollen tummy). I want to go to my closet at home, choose something nice to wear, carefully choose jewelry and shoes, then go shower, style my hair, and then sit in front of a mirror and put on my makeup and experiment. And then I just want to sit there and feel good about LOOKING good.

I'm eating well- I get nice and hungry, but the bloating then makes me immediately uncomfortable and in pain when I'm done. Dr P insists though that the more I eat, the sooner I'll feel better and the gut will go down- she thinks it's a lack of protein and malnutrition. A physical therapist came by today to start whipping me back in shape so I can face stairs/going to stores/getting out of bed, etc when I get home.

I'm working on a baby afghan at the moment- I was working on an afghan for my dad, had gotten into a comfortable groove with it, but then I got an invite to a baby shower on February 1st! I can only pray it'll be done before then. It's for a little girl, so it's PINK! Yay pink! I've been doing a lot of eBaying too- hospital time is shopping online time. Mail is the best! Anyway, that's the update from me for now :)

I'd love to see pictures of the afghan when you are done.

I remember prior to my lung transplant, I went months without make-up. It was so nice after my recovery to get my hair colored, put make-up on, and actually dress up. It just makes you feel better!

That sounds about right with the lack of protein and the malnutrition. It will make your stomach bloat. I was having a lot of bloating a couple of years ago, so I went to a gastroenterologist and was diagnosed with IBS. He said that the docs had probably contributed all of my problems to CF and overlooked the IBS. My mom has it too. The med I am on now really helps. I hope yours goes away soon!

This is such a TRUE post. Glad to hear you're feeling a little better and eating more, but hope you get out soon so you can spend some time pampering yourself like you deserve. If it makes you feel any better, Columbia Pres has a no shower rule in effect b/c there is legioneers bacteria in the warm water. Sheesh. So I have been sans shower for two days and totally know how you feel!
